About – Traditional Karate Ontario

Traditional Karate Ontario was founded in January 2016 by Calum Nairn 3rd Dan and Andy Horvath 2nd Dan and became an affiliate with the World Traditional Karate Organization that same year. The WTKO is under the leadership of Richard Amos Sensei, WTKO Chief Instructor, John Mullin Sensei, WTKO Executive Chair and Scott Middleton Sensei, WTKO International Director.
Calum Nairn 3rd Dan, Chief instructor TKO. Started Shotokan karate in 1980 at the age of 16 in Scotland and graded to Shodan in 1984 and Nidan in 1986; both under Sadashige Kato Sensei. He represented Scotland multiple times in both Kata and Kumite competitions and was one of the team members that won 1st place multiple times in Kato Shihan’s National Championships in Team Kata. Calum was invited to represent Scotland in the first Kanazawa Cup World Championships in the Nippon Budokan Tokyo Japan in 1983. Graded to Sandan in October of 2018 under Scott Middleton Sensei of the WTKO.
